  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 3 cups granulated sugar
  • 5 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla flavoring
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup milk, room temp

How to Make

  • Step 1: Cream together the butter and shortening.

  • Step 2: Add sugar and cream well.

  • Step 3: Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each egg.

  • Step 4: Add vanilla.

  • Step 5: Sift all dry ingredients together and add to creamed mixture alternately with the milk.

  • Step 6: Prepare 10-inch bundt pan, or tube pan of choice,and add mixture to pan.

  • Step 7: Place in oven, which has been preheated to 325 degrees F and bake for 80 minutes.
