  • Oil, for deep frying
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons oil
  • 1 broccoli bunch (separated into stalks)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oil in deep-fat fryer, wok or skillet to 350 degrees F.

  • Step 2: In a medium bowl combine dry ingredients (flour - salt).

  • Step 3: In a bowl whisk wet ingredients (mil - oil). Stir wet mixture into dry ingredients.

  • Step 4: Dip broccoli stalks into batter, coating completely.

  • Step 5: Add broccoli to oil in batches, being careful not to over crowd, and fry until golden brown (3-5 minutes).

  • Step 6: Drain on paper towels.
