Step 1: In a large bowl, combine the pecans, fruits and the 1/4 cup flour. Toss to coat well with the flour. Set aside.
Step 2: With an electric mixer, cream the butter. Gradually add the brown sugar, beating well. Add the eggs and beat well.
Step 3: In a separate bowl, combine the flour, soda and cardamom. Gradually add the flour mixture to the creamed mixture, beating well.
Step 4: Stir in the fruit mixture, cover and chill.
Step 5: Divide the dough into 3 portions.. Spoon each portion onto waxed paper, shaping into 12 inch logs. Wrap in the wax paper and freeze at least 24 hours.
Step 6: Remove the wax paper, one log at a time, and slice into 1/4 thick slices and place on lightly greased cookie sheets.
Step 7: Bake at 350 for 6 minutes or until lightly browned. Let cool slightly on cookie sheet and remove to wire racks to cool completely.
Step 8: Makes 9 1/2 dozen cookies.
