Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 cups uncooked penne pasta - cooked until only halfway drained then mixed with 1/3 cup milk or light cream, 1/3 cup Parmesan cheese, 1 large egg, lightly beaten, 1/2 teaspoon each seasoned salt and black pepper
  • 1 recipe Kittencal's Alfredo sauce http://www.recipezazz.com/recipe/kittencals-alfredo-sauce - substitute 2 cups 18% table cream for the heavy cream and use 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour in place of 3 teaspoons with addition of 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese mixed in at the end
  • 1 1/2 pounds slicy Italian sausage links, casings removed
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 (4 ounce) cans sliced mushrooms, well drained
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (oven rack set to lowest position) then grease a 13 x 9-inch baking dish.

  • Step 2: Spread the cooked penne pasta mixture into bottom of the baking dish.

  • Step 3: Drizzle the prepared alfredo sauce over the top; set aside.

  • Step 4: In a skillet cook the sausage meat with onion until browned (about 10-12 minutes) drain fat then sprinkle over the alfredo sauce.

  • Step 5: Top with 3/4 cup Parmesan cheese then mushrooms, then sprinkle with 2 cups mozzarella cheese.

  • Step 6: Bake for about 20-25 minutes or until hot.
