Step 1: Mix together wine and water in a saucepan.
Step 2: Heat over a very low flame (or electric element), and DO NOT ALLOW TO BOIL.
Step 3: Remove from heat and stir until syrup is dissolved.
Step 4: Pour into mugs, and top each with a pat of butter.
Step 5: Supply cinnamon sticks to be used as stirrers.
Step 6: Makes 2 quarts; recipe can be halved or doubled.
