  • 6 ounces cream cheese (two 3 ounce packages cream cheese, softened)
  • 2 tablespoons cream (or milk)
  • 4 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 4 ounces unsweetened chocolate squares (melted)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract (or 1 teaspoon rum)
  • Salt (1 dash)
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped pecans (optional)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Beat cream cheese with cream.

  • Step 2: Gradually beat in sugar, then blend in chocolate.

  • Step 3: Stir in vanilla and rum or almond extract, salt and (if using) 1 cup nuts.

  • Step 4: Press into lightly greased 8-inch square pan and cover top with remaining nuts (or can top each square with one pecan half).

  • Step 5: Mark in 64 1-inch square pieces and chill.
