Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 20 grams butter
  • 1 sliced brown onion
  • 1 teaspoon thyme leaves
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 440 grams beef minute steaks (4 steaks/110 grams each)
  • 2 French baguettes (small halved lengthwise)
  • 2 tablespoons horseradish cream
  • 8 slices cheddar cheese
  • 60 grams rocket lettuce (baby leaves)
We recommend you get your ingredients ready before you start cooking. Once you're ready, here are the steps to making this delicious recipe

How to Make

  • Step 1: Heat 1 tablespoon of the oil and the butter in a non stick frying pan over low heat and add the onion and thyme and cook for 10 minutes or until onion is softened and then add the sugar and balsamic vinegar and cook for a further 8-10 minutes till caramelised.

  • Step 2: Heat the remaining oil in a non stick frying pan and cook the steaks for 1-2 minutes per side or until cooked to your liking (better I think to do a little under as it will go under the grill/broiler for a minute or two).

  • Step 3: Spread half a tablespoon of the horseradish cream over each baguette half and top with the steak and cheese.

  • Step 4: Place under a preheated hot grill/broiler and cook for 2-3 minutes or until cheese is melted and golden.

  • Step 5: Top with caramelised onion and rocket, cut baquette into 4 to serve.
