Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 pound dry ziti pasta
  • 2 teaspoon kosher salt, for boiling
  • 1 teaspoon oil (olive oil, for boiling)
  • 1 teaspoon oil (olive oil, for frying)
  • 1/2 pound sweet Italian sausage
  • 1/2 pound ground beef
  • 1 yellow onion, diced
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 jars (26 ounce) spaghetti sauce
  • 1 package (6 ounce) sliced provolone cheese
  • 3/4 cup sour cream
  • 1 container (15 ounce) ricotta cheese
  • 1 pinch kosher salt
  • 1 pinch fresh ground pepper
  • 4 green onions, sliced
  • 4 ounces mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 2 tablespoons freshly grated parmesan cheese
We recommend you get your ingredients ready before you start cooking. Once you're ready, here are the steps to making this delicious recipe

How to Make

  • Step 1: Grease a large deep casserole dish. I use a 10 x 10 x 4 corningware dish. Bring a large pot of water to a boil, adding salt and olive oil. Cook pasta 8 minutes, it should still be firm. Drain.

  • Step 2: Meanwhile, remove sausage from casings. Fry sausage, ground beef, onion, and garlic in remaining olive oil over medium high heat until browned. Add spaghetti sauce and reduce heat to low. Add salt if needed.

  • Step 3: In prepared dish, layer half the cooked pasta, all the provolone, all the sour cream and all the ricotta. Sprinkle a tiny pinch of salt over the ricotta and some fresh ground pepper to taste.

  • Step 4: Layer all the green onions, half the meat sauce, the remaining pasta, all the mozzarella, the remaining meat sauce and top with parmesan.

  • Step 5: Bake at 350 degrees for 35-45 minutes or until done. If you made it ahead, take out of fridge 2 hours before you plan to cook it. If it's still chilled, increase cooking time.
