Step 1: Combine first 5 ingredients in sauce pan.
Step 2: Over medium heat and stirring occasionally cook until tomatoes begin to fall apart, about 20 minutes.
Step 3: Remove from heat and puree in blender until smooth set aside.
Step 4: Wipe out sauce pan and add oil heat over medium-high heat until oil begins to smoke.
Step 5: Carefully pour puree and bay leaves into hot oil, bring to boil.
Step 6: Reduce heat to a simmer and cook until thickened, stirring occasionally (10 minutes). Season with salt.
