Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 3 medium-sized tomatillos, husked and left whole
  • 1 package (.4 ounce) dry buttermilk ranch dressing mix
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup packed cilantro leaves, roughly chopped
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1 small jalapeño, seeded and finely diced
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons lime juice
We recommend you get your ingredients ready before you start cooking. Once you're ready, here are the steps to making this delicious recipe

How to Make

  • Step 1: Place the tomatillos and the water in a small, heavy-bottomed saucepan. Bring to a boil and cook, covered for 8 minutes. Checking frequently so it doesn't dry out. Add water as necessary - there should still be some water in the pot when done. Let cool to room temperature.

  • Step 2: Scoop the tomatillos into a blender jar, along with 2 tablespoons of the cooking liquid.

  • Step 3: Add the remaining ingredients to the blender jar and pulse 2 to 3 minutes, until smooth and creamy. Add extra water or cooking liquid 1 tablespoon at a time if needed to reach desired consistency.

  • Step 4: Chill at least 1 hour before use and store refrigerated in airtight container. Makes approximately 2 cups of sauce.
