Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 1/2 to 2 3/4 pounds apples (6 to 7 apples)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (divided)
  • Nutmeg (1 pinch)
  • Cinnamon (1 pinch)
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup butter (cut into small pieces)
  • Lemon juice
  • Pie pastry (for a double crust pie, I use Pillsbury pie crusts, sold in the dairy section)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

  • Step 2: Line pie pan with bottom crust

  • Step 3: Peel and slice apples

  • Step 4: Put half of the apples in prepared pie pan.

  • Step 5: Sprinkle apple slices (in the pan) with 1/2 cup sugar and spices.

  • Step 6: Top with remaining apples and rest of sugar, nutmeg and cinnamon, flour and butter.

  • Step 7: Sprinkle with lemon juice.

  • Step 8: Cover with top crust, crimp edges together with a fork. Cut "x" on top to allow steam to escape. Sprinkle top with sugar.

  • Step 9: Put pie on baking sheet in case of spill-overs.

  • Step 10: Bake for 1 hour in preheated oven.
