Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 cups dry rice
  • 3 garlic cloves ,smashed
  • 1 yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 can (15 ounce) garbonzo beans, drained (chickpeas)
  • 1 chili pepper, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, smashed
  • 4 cups vegetable stock (or chicken or beef)
  • 1/4 cup dry orzo
  • 3 tablespoons oil
  • 1 tablespoon cilantro
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala

How to Make

  • Step 1: In oil brown onion, chili, when almost done add garlic and ginger and garam masala. Remove then add rice and orzo, lightly brown.

  • Step 2: Add cumin, stock and chickpeas. Add onion mixture back. Add cilantro. Cover and simmer very low 20 minutes.
