Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • PORK LOIN
  • 1 roast (3 pound) pork loin
  • Kosher salt
  • Pepper
  • Olive olive oil
  • SAUCE
  • 1 large yellow onion (cut in quarters and thin sliced)
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce (I use low sodium)
  • 2/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup oil (olive oil)
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 3 cloves garlic, grated
  • 3 1/2 tablespoons Montreal Steak Seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • Garnish
  • 3 to 4 scallions, diced (white and green parts)
We recommend you get your ingredients ready before you start cooking. Once you're ready, here are the steps to making this delicious recipe

How to Make

  • Step 1: Pork ... Remove the pork from the refrigerator to take the chill off. Season with plenty of salt and pepper on all sides. Add olive oil to the bottom on a saute pan, and bring to medium high heat. Saute the pork, until each side is golden brown, and seared. Then, transfer to the crock pot.

  • Step 2: Sauce ... As the pork cooks - prepare the sauce. Add the soy, honey, olive oil, broth, ginger, garlic, steak seasoning, and red pepper flakes to a small bowl; and, mix to combine.

  • Step 3: Sauce and Pork ... Surround the pork with the onions. Then, remove the pan you cooked the pork in from the heat; add the sauce, scraping up the bits from the bottom, which will deglaze the pan - and, pour the sauce over the pork.

  • Step 4: Cook ... Cover and cook. I prefer low heat - 8-10 hours on low, 7-9 hours on high. But, please remember, all crock pots these days seem to cook differently. Especially the new ones, which are much hotter.

  • Step 5: Finish ... Transfer the pork to a serving platter, and cover with foil before serving. Transfer the remaining liquid to a serving to a measuring cup, to pour over the pork. Cut the pork into slices; although, it will probably just fall apart (which is ok). Garnish with scallions.

  • Step 6: Serve and ENJOY! ... As I mentioned; a simple vegetable stir fry and rice are the perfect sides. Leftovers can be used in so many different ways.

  • Step 7: Note: my large oval new crock pot took 7 1/2 hours oh high; yet, my friends took 6 1/2. So, my point, is - just know your own crock pot; they are all so different these days. I like to cook on low when possible; as it is much for forgiving.
