The ingredients are:
  • 170 grams rice (3/4 cup dry)
  • 50 grams dry angel hair pasta (1/2 cup, broken into small pieces, or vermicelli)
  • 2 tablespoons butter (or margarine)
  • 1 package (2 ounces) dry onion soup mix (Lipton's Beefy Onion Soup Mix)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 2/3 cups water (hot)
  • 1 cup low-sodium beef broth
  • Pepper (optional)

How to Make

  • Step 1: In medium skillet (with lid), melt the butter or margarine over medium heat. Add rice and pasta and cook, stirring, until lightly browned, around 3 minutes.

  • Step 2: Add onion soup mix, garlic powder, water and broth to skillet. Bring to a simmer and cover.

  • Step 3: Simmer on low heat, covered, approximately 20 minutes, or until water is absorbed and rice is tender. If necessary, add more water and continue simmering until rice is tender.

  • Step 4: Season with pepper.
