Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 3/4 cup corn syrup (dark)
  • 3/4 cup molasses
  • 3/4 cup sorghum
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup honey
  • 1 cup lard
  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons cardamom
  • 1 teaspoon anise
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup almonds, ground
  • FROSTING
  • 1 pound white almond bark

How to Make

  • Step 1: See lol BIG list.

  • Step 2: Cream lard, butter add sugar. Add molasses, sorghum (lighter molasses) honey, corn syrup. Beat. Add eggs; beat.

  • Step 3: Add spices (they are all ground).

  • Step 4: Add almonds, beat.

  • Step 5: Add milk; beat.

  • Step 6: Make dough stiff (add 1 cup at a time) LOSE THE MIXER NOW USE WOODEN SPOON) to roll out the next morning (I'm guessing they mean to put in frig overnight).

  • Step 7: Cut oblong but not too large.

  • Step 8: Bake in moderate oven 15 minutes or so @ 375 degrees F.

  • Step 9: When cool, frost with white almond bark.

  • Step 10: Dough keeps 2 weeks in fridge.
