  • 10 ounces lard (1 1/4 c)
  • 3/4 ounce baking soda
  • 2 pounds all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 pint molasses
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 pint water
  • 1/2 ounce ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 ounce allspice

How to Make

  • Step 1: Cream sugar and lard. Add eggs, molasses and water.

  • Step 2: Sift dry stuff. Chill overnight

  • Step 3: Make small balls then flatten.

  • Step 4: Bake 375 for 12 minutes (watch these puppies can burn).
