Step 4: In another bowl, mix the flour with salt and pepper.
Step 5: Dip the okra pieces in the buttermilk wash, then in the flour.
Step 6: Deep-fry the okra until it is golden brown, about 3 minutes.
Step 7: Lift the okra from the oil with a slotted spoon. Drain on paper towels and serve immediately.
