  • 2 gallons cucumbers (sliced)
  • 4 bell peppers, sliced
  • 4 yellow onions, sliced
  • 3/4 cup salt
  • SYRUP
  • 5 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tablespoon turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon celery seeds
  • 1/8 cup mustard seeds
  • 1 quart vinegar
  • 10 cups water

How to Make

  • Step 1: Cover the vegetables with water and ice chips and weigh them down, with a plate on top, so everything is under water for 3 hours. Drain.

  • Step 2: Mix the last 7 ingredients for the syrup. Heat the syrup.

  • Step 3: Add the heated syrup to the drained vegetables.

  • Step 4: Pour into hot sterilized jars. Seal.

  • Step 5: Water bath for 30 minutes.
