Step 1: In a large microwave safe mixing bowl, combine butter and peanut butter.
Step 2: Microwave for about 1-2 minutes or until butter and peanut butter is combined and smooth and creamy. Stir the mixture a few times during the microwaving process.
Step 3: Remove the bowl from the microwave; stir in the powdered sugar. You may need to use your hands to thoroughly incorporate it.
Step 4: Roll the mixture into 1-inch balls while the mixture is still warm. If mixture becomes too crumbly, put the bowl back into the microwave and warm it up some more.
Step 5: Place peanut butter balls on 2 cookie sheets lined with wax paper. Stick a toothpick in each ball. Refrigerate for about 30 minutes.
Step 6: Dip peanut butter balls into chocolate coating.
Step 7: Chocolate Coating:
Step 8: Melt all coating ingredients in a small mixing bowl in the microwave just until melted; stirring often.
Step 9: Put the bowl of melted chocolate on top of a small saucepan filled with a little bit of water on low heat. This will keep your chocolate warm. (If you have a double boiler, you can use that).
Step 10: Dip peanut butter balls in the chocolate mixture and then gently tap off the excess chocolate.
Step 11: Place the chocolate covered peanut butter ball back on cookie sheet and twist the tooth pick gently to pull it out. Using the toothpick, swirl the chocolate a bit over the tooth pick hole to cover it for a neater appearance.
Step 12: Set cookie sheets in the refrigerator to set the chocolate. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
Step 13: This makes alot of candy. Approximate 5-6 dozen peanut butter balls, depending on the size you shape the candy.
