Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise (homemade is best)
  • 1/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon onion, grated (preferably Vidalia)
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1/4 small head green cabbage, cored and finely shredded (about 2 cups)
  • 1/4 small head red cabbage, cored and finely shredded (about 2 cups)
  • 1 carrot, finely shredded
  • Coarse salt and freshly ground pepper

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a large bowl, combine sugar, mayo, buttermilk, lemon juice, vinegar, onion and mustard.

  • Step 2: Whisk until smooth.

  • Step 3: Add the cabbages and carrot, mix well to combine.

  • Step 4: Season with salt & pepper.

  • Step 5: Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate to marinate for at least 2 hours before serving.

  • Step 6: Adjust seasoning with salt & pepper
