Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 boxes (7 1/4 ounces) Kraft macaroni and cheese dinner mix
  • 2 pounds ground beef (or 1 pound beef and 1 pound ground bulk sausage meat)
  • 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 can (14 1/2 ounces) diced tomatoes (undrained)
  • 1 can (10 ounces) diced tomatoes (with green chilies, undrained)
  • 1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • Red pepper flakes, pinch
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 cups sour cream
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (Mexican cheese blend, shredded, divided)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 350°.

  • Step 2: Set aside cheese packets from dinner mixes.

  • Step 3: In a medium pot, cook macaroni (from the box) 8-10 minutes or until tender.

  • Step 4: Meanwhile, in a Dutch oven, cook and stir beef and onion over medium heat 10-12 minutes or until beef is no longer pink; drain. Stir in tomatoes, tomatoes and green chilies, tomato sauce and next 6 seasonings seasonings.

  • Step 5: Drain macaroni; add to beef mixture. Stir in contents of both cheese packets, sour cream and 1 cup cheddar cheese.

  • Step 6: Transfer to a greased 13x9-in. baking dish; top with remaining 1 cup cheddar cheese.

  • Step 7: Bake, uncovered, 20-25 minutes or until bubbly.
