Step 1: Season roast with salt and pepper. Brown on all sides in hot oil in a skillet, then transfer roast in crock pot, place the onions around roast. Pour barbecue sauce over top of the roast.
Step 2: Put about 1 cup of water in bottom of the pot.
Step 3: Cook on low for 10-12 hours.
Step 4: Can be sliced and serve with vegetables or chopped and served on buns.
