Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 12 bacon slices, diced (divided)
  • 1/2 cup green bell pepper, diced
  • 2 cans (15 ounces each) pork and beans
  • 1/3 cup barbecue sauce (hickory flavored)
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
  • Fresh ground black pepper (to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon seasoning salt

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

  • Step 2: Grease a 1-qt baking dish.

  • Step 3: In a skillet cook the diced bacon until crisp; drain and reserve 2 tablespoons of drippings.

  • Step 4: In the same skillet saute green pepper in drippings until tender; set aside.

  • Step 5: Drain one can of beans.

  • Step 6: In a bowl combine both cans of beans, barbecue sauce, brown sugar, mustard and sauteed green pepper, pepper, salt and half the cooked diced bacon.

  • Step 7: Transfer to baking dish.

  • Step 8: Bake, uncovered for 35-40 minutes or until bubbly.

  • Step 9: Sprinkle with remaining diced bacon.
