Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 cups pecans, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted (1 stick)
  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 1 1/2 pounds boneless skinless chicken breasts (cut into 1/2 wide long strips)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon Creole seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1/3 cup maple syrup (pure)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Toast the pecans;

  • Step 2: Preheat the oven to 250F, place the pecans in a single layer on a cookie sheet, cover with 1/2 cup melted butter, bake for 15 minutes, being careful not to burn, then take the nuts out of the oven-set aside.

  • Step 3: Preheat the oven to 375F.

  • Step 4: Season the chicken strips with creole seasoning, salt, pepper and garlic powder.

  • Step 5: In a large, deep skillet, heat 6 Tb butter over medium heat.

  • Step 6: In batches, cook the chicken in the skillet until browned on both sides ( approx 2 minutes per side)- transfer the chicken to a large casserole dish.

  • Step 7: To the same skillet, add the sugar and syrup- cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly. Add the pecans and cook for another 1 minutes then pour the sauce over the chicken.

  • Step 8: Cover the casserole with foil and bake for 15 minutes or until he chicken is cooked through.
