Step 1: Toast the pecans;
Step 2: Preheat the oven to 250F, place the pecans in a single layer on a cookie sheet, cover with 1/2 cup melted butter, bake for 15 minutes, being careful not to burn, then take the nuts out of the oven-set aside.
Step 3: Preheat the oven to 375F.
Step 4: Season the chicken strips with creole seasoning, salt, pepper and garlic powder.
Step 5: In a large, deep skillet, heat 6 Tb butter over medium heat.
Step 6: In batches, cook the chicken in the skillet until browned on both sides ( approx 2 minutes per side)- transfer the chicken to a large casserole dish.
Step 7: To the same skillet, add the sugar and syrup- cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly. Add the pecans and cook for another 1 minutes then pour the sauce over the chicken.
Step 8: Cover the casserole with foil and bake for 15 minutes or until he chicken is cooked through.
