Step 1: Donuts ... I like to dice them; and then, let them set out a couple hours to dry out a bit. Especially if they are very fresh. It isn't necessary; but, I think it works best.
Step 2: Ice Cream ... Let your ice cream set out to soften; then, transfer to a bowl. Mix the espresso with the heavy cream in a small cup, until it is completely dissolved. Add the espresso mixture to the ice cream first, and stir until well combined. Then add the donuts, and mix again. Cover with plastic wrap, and re-freeze.
Step 3: You can also add these to small ice cream molds too if you like. Or try freezing them in muffin tins; makes a nice presentation.
Step 4: Serve and ENJOY! ... Some of my friends like to drizzle chocolate over the top. I prefer to garnish with a dollop of whipped cream.
