Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 8 bacon slices, diced (or smoked sausage links sliced or you could use as much as you want)
  • 1 cabbage head, small (cored)
  • 1 medium onion, finely minced
  • 3/4 to 1 cup chicken broth (or as much as needed, or you could use water)
  • 1/3 cup vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar (or as much as you want)
  • Salt and ground pepper

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a large skillet, cook bacon until crisp. Remove bacon; set aside (leave the bacon grease in the skillet).

  • Step 2: Add cabbage, onion and garlic to the bacon drippings. Saute until until tender, about 8 minutes.

  • Step 3: Add remaining ingredients; stir until thickened.

  • Step 4: Add the bacon back to the skillet to heat through. Season with salt and pepper.

  • Step 5: Serve warm with cooked rice or hot cooked noodles.
