  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup white sugar

  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 1-3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons instant coffee granules (for a more intense coffee flavor increase to 3 teaspoons)
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4-1 cup cup semi sweet chocolate chips

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

  • Step 2: Grease a large baking sheet.

  • Step 3: In a large bowl cream butter with shortening and both sugars until fluffy (about 2 minutes).

  • Step 4: Beat in egg and vanilla until well blended.

  • Step 5: In a bowl combine the flour with coffee granules, baking soda and salt; add to the creamed mixture and beat on low speed until just combined.

  • Step 6: Mix in chocolate chips.

  • Step 7: Drop by tablespoonfuls onto greased baking sheet.

  • Step 8: Bake for 8-10 minutes (do not over bake).

  • Step 9: Cool then remove to a wire rack.
