Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup Karo syrup
  • 12 ounces peanut butter (crunchy peanut butter, one 12 ounce jar)
  • Special K cereal (6 cups)
  • 6 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips (small package)
  • 12 ounces butterscotch baking chips
We recommend you get your ingredients ready before you start cooking. Once you're ready, here are the steps to making this delicious recipe

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a large mixing bowl, add the 6 cups of cereal; set aside.

  • Step 2: In a saucepot, add the sugar and karo syrup; bring to a boil. Turn heat to low after mixture reaches a boil. This is important. Bars will be hard as concrete if mixture continues to boil.

  • Step 3: Add the peanut butter to the sugar mixture. Stir until smooth and combined.

  • Step 4: Pour peanut butter mixture over the bowl of cereal and mix well.

  • Step 5: Add the mixture into a lightly buttered 13X9 inch pan, or a 9x9 pan for thicker bars. Pat the mixture into the pan.

  • Step 6: Topping:

  • Step 7: In a medium bowl, combine the chocolate and butterscotch chips. Microwave for about 2 minutes or until melted; stirring once or twice during melting.

  • Step 8: Pour and spread topping over top of cereal mixture. Refrigerate just long enough to set the chips. Remove, and cut into bars.
