Step 1: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef, onion and garlic. Cook and stir until the beef is crumbly, then cook until browned. Drain grease.
Step 2: Stir in ketchup, salsa, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, white vinegar, Dijon mustard, and hot sauce. Bring to a simmer and cook, stirring occasionally, over low heat, partially covered for around 30 minutes.
Step 3: Season with salt and pepper.
Step 4: Serve on toasted buttered burger buns.
