Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 pound ground beef (lean)
  • 1 onion, medium (chopped)
  • 1/2 whole green bell pepper (chopped, seeds removed)
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 1/2 cups ketchup
  • 1 cup salsa (chunky, I use medium heat)
  • 2 to 4 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons white vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • Salt and pepper
  • Hot sauce (as much as you want to you taste)
  • Bread buns (4 burger buns, buttered and toasted)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef, onion and garlic. Cook and stir until the beef is crumbly, then cook until browned. Drain grease.

  • Step 2: Stir in ketchup, salsa, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, white vinegar, Dijon mustard, and hot sauce. Bring to a simmer and cook, stirring occasionally, over low heat, partially covered for around 30 minutes.

  • Step 3: Season with salt and pepper.

  • Step 4: Serve on toasted buttered burger buns.
