Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 ounces bacon (2 slices, diced into small pieces, the fatter the bacon,the better)
  • 1/8 to 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped (sweet onion, if you don't have sweet onion,try red)
  • 2 tablespoons butter (or margarine, optional)
  • 1 can (14.5 ounce) green beans (DO NOT drain)
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a 2 quart saucepan,add chopped bacon,cook over medium heat until the fat has rendered off and bacon is slightly browned.

  • Step 2: Then add onion to bacon and cook until softened(if you need extra fat to cook the onion add butter or margarine).

  • Step 3: Pour green beans with liquid,and the water into bacon/onion mixture.

  • Step 4: Sprinkle with sugar and mix well.

  • Step 5: When beans reaches a medium boil,cover with a slightly tilted lid,turn to low and simmer for at least 30 minutes.
