Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • Bread slices (8 slices pumpernickel bread or any dark bread)
  • Pork tenderloin (16 slices, or 8 pork loin slices, see recipe #10403)
  • 1 onion, medium (sweet or red onion, very thin sliced)
  • 1 apple (thin sliced in wedges)
  • 1 pear (bosc or any firm pear, thin sliced in wedges
  • 8 slices cheddar cheese (thin slices sharp white cheddar cheese)
  • 1/4 cup apple butter
  • 1/8 cup mustard, prepared (stone ground mustard)
We recommend you get your ingredients ready before you start cooking. Once you're ready, here are the steps to making this delicious recipe

How to Make

  • Step 1: Apple Mustard Spread ... mix the apple butter with the mustard, and set to the side.

  • Step 2: Sandwich ... Spread the apple mustard sauce/spread on both slices of bread (top and bottom), then add the pork slices, onion, apple, pear, and cheese; then, finish with the top bread slice. Use 4 tooth pics in the four corners; cut in half diagonally, and again in half.

  • Step 3: Serve and ENJOY! ... It's a simple mix of flavors; but absolutely delicious. I love to serve this with a bowl of potato or creamy onion soup, pickles, and chips.

  • Step 4: Note: If you make this ahead of time, you may want to toss the fruit with lemon, so they don't brown. Usually, I make this right before I serve it, so it isn't necessary.
