Step 1: Preheat oven to 350F (180C or gas mark 4).
Step 2: Line a twelve cup muffin tin (average size) with muffin papers.
Step 3: In a medium mixing bowl combine the 1/3 cup butter, 1/2 cup sugar and the egg; mix well.
Step 4: Stir in the flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg.
Step 5: Add the milk and mix until all the ingredients are just moistened.
Step 6: Fill each muffin cup about 2/3 full.
Step 7: Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
Step 8: While muffins are baking, in a bowl wide enough to accommodate the muffin, mix together 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon.
Step 9: Dip each muffin tip into the butter and then into the cinnamon-sugar mixture, turning to cover the muffin top with the sweet mixture.
Step 10: Wonderful served warm and great at room temperature (if any are left over). My children used to like them in their lunch boxes as a sweet treat without the gooey frosting. Enjoy!
