  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
  • 1 large egg (beaten)
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 apple (large apple, diced)
  • Oil (for deep-frying)
  • Confectioners sugar (for dusting)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Sift all six dry ingredients together in a medium or large bowl.

  • Step 2: In another bowl eat eggs and milk together. Add in the dry ingredients, then chopped apples.

  • Step 3: In a heavy skillet heat cooking oil over medium-high heat.

  • Step 4: Drop a tablespoon full of batter into hot oil and fry until golden brown in color, around 2 minutes each side.

  • Step 5: Remove from oil and drain on a rack or paper towels. Cool then generously dust with powdered sugar.
