Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • Chocolate cake mix (1 box 18.25 ounces, with all the ingredients needed to prepare the cake as directed on the box)
  • Chocolate frosting (1 tub 16 ounces, the kind that is sold next to the cake mixes in the stores)
  • Vanilla ice cream (optional but you really should use it)

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a baking dish (that is microwave-friendly) combine the cake mix along with all the ingredients that is listed on the box.

  • Step 2: Stir until smooth and there are no more lumps.

  • Step 3: Then drop dollops of the frosting on top of the cake mixture (I used a medium sized scoop).

  • Step 4: Microwave, uncovered for 10 minutes.

  • Step 5: Be careful the cake will be very hot and the “lava” will be too (the “lava” sauce will be at the bottom of the dish when the cake is finished).

  • Step 6: Serve this with vanilla ice cream.
