  • 14 ounces tomato sauce (canned and use the plain flavor)
  • 1/4 cup vinegar (apple cider)
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon chipotle powder
  • 2 teaspoon paprika (smoked don't use the regular paprika)
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 to 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional or to taste)
  • 2 teaspoons fennel seed (ground)
  • 1 teaspoon pepper (freshly ground)
  • 1 tablespoon ground dry oregano
  • 1/2 to 1 teaspoon kosher salt

How to Make

  • Step 1: Simmer all ingredients together slowly for about a 1/2 hour or longer, stirring every few minutes until the sauce reduces and thickens to the consistency you prefer (it will thicken slightly as it cools).
