Step 1: Melt 1/4 cup of butter into a 9 inch square pan.
Step 2: Sprinkle with brown sugar.
Step 3: Mix berries and lemon rind together. Put into pan, distributing evenly.
Step 4: Cream 1/2 cup of butter and granulated sugar together and beat until light.
Step 5: Add egg, and beat well.
Step 6: Sift dry ingredients and add alternately with milk, beating until smooth.
Step 7: Spread on berries.
Step 8: Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes. Let stand 20 minutes, and turn out onto serving platter.
