  • 2 teaspoons grated lemon rind
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 12 teaspoons baking powder

How to Make

  • Step 1: Melt 1/4 cup of butter into a 9 inch square pan.

  • Step 2: Sprinkle with brown sugar.

  • Step 3: Mix berries and lemon rind together. Put into pan, distributing evenly.

  • Step 4: Cream 1/2 cup of butter and granulated sugar together and beat until light.

  • Step 5: Add egg, and beat well.

  • Step 6: Sift dry ingredients and add alternately with milk, beating until smooth.

  • Step 7: Spread on berries.

  • Step 8: Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes. Let stand 20 minutes, and turn out onto serving platter.
