Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 15 ounces tomato sauce
  • 8 ounces egg noodles (one package, 8 ounces)
  • 1 cup low fat cottage cheese
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 green onions, chopped
  • 1 cup low fat cheddar cheese (shredded)
  • Salt, pepper and garlic powder to taste

How to Make

  • Step 1: N a large skillet, brown the beef with onion and garlic powder. Add in tomato sauce, then season with salt and pepper. Simmer partially covered on low heat for about 20-30 minutes.

  • Step 2: Cook the noodles in boiling salted water according to package directions. In a large bowl, mix together the cottage cheese, sour cream and scallions. When the noodles are cooked and drained, add them to the bowl and mix. Add additional salt, if needed then lots of pepper.

  • Step 3: Place HALF of the noodle mixture in the bottom of a greased casserole dish, then HALF the beef mixture. Top with HALF the shredded cheddar cheese.

  • Step 4: Next layer on the remaining noodles followed by the remaining beef.

  • Step 5: Finish with the remainder of the cheddar cheese.

  • Step 6: Bake in a pre-heated 350 degree oven for about 30 minutes or until hot an bubbly.
