Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 3 cups flour (sifted)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoon baking powder
  • Water (about 1 cup)
  • Vegetable oil or lard
We recommend you get your ingredients ready before you start cooking. Once you're ready, here are the steps to making this delicious recipe

How to Make

  • Step 1: Mix 1/2 the flour with the remaining dry ingredients.

  • Step 2: Add the water until it becomes thick, like a paper mache paste.

  • Step 3: Add more flour until the dough feels like a soft earlobe (I don't use all the flour most times)

  • Step 4: Heat oil or lard over medium heat until hot but not smoking.

  • Step 5: Break off a small pieces of dough and flatten each to the size of your palm, about 1/2" thick.

  • Step 6: Place pieces 2 or 3 at a time in the hot oil; turn after about 3 minutes, or golden brown.

  • Step 7: Fry second side until it is golden.

  • Step 8: Remove to paper towels to soak up excess grease.

  • Step 9: Serve plain or with jam etc.
