Delicious! I had to use regular green beans as we can't get haricots verts here until summer. So I steamed the beans until almost done and then made as directed. DH and I ate it all! Served this with roasted chicken and salad. Thank you breezermom for another of your wonderful recipes. Made for Billboard Recipe Tag.
Delicious green beans! I used thick-cut bacon and "Zatarain's" creole seasoning. Between the saltiness of the bacon and the creole seasoning, for our tastes, no additional salt was needed. Also, I covered the pan while cooking the beans, uncovering the pan near the end of cooking to allow any liquid to evaporate. We loved the little bit of zing that the creole seasoning added. Thank you for sharing. **Made for 2017 Football Pool**
I love green beans...I love bacon...so I knew I would love this dish...I cooked my bacon and onions prior to cooking my beans...I really like my bacon crisp...I should have held back on the garlic a bit...live and learn...this is a very tasty dish...thanks for showing me another way to cook green beans...made for "Billboard" tag game...
Wish I could give ten stars! I just loved the combo of the garlic and ginger with this, and I think the time spent "frying" the tomato paste made a big difference. Simply said, this recipe is better than the sum of its parts. I will most definitely be making this again! Made for CQ4 play, Team Happy Campers. Thanks for posting this - it's going straight into my Favorites!
UPDATE 1/2018: I LOVE this recipe! It's good hot or cold, and I've made it countless times since CQ4. Goes well with many different types of cuisines! PS: I double the garlic and ginger, use a can of diced tomatoes (slightly drained). Yum!!!
I made this for DD and I and we really the salmon, it was very flavorful. We found the potato mash a bit too heavy with the oil so I will reduce the amount next time we make it. I'm looking forward to trying it again soon.
I cheated a little on this recipe, I used a packet of pre cut soup vegetables (which had kale in it) although I did add the onion and garlic which was not included in the pack mix. I also used my own roasted tomato's which I had frozen for just this type of recipe. So really nothing was different, it still was as per recipe with the exception of using pre cut vegies!
I used a dried tomato and mozzarella filled tortellini which complimented this type of soup brilliantly.
Such a hearty thick soup with fantastic flavours.
This would be a great soup to use up any of those leftover vegetables in the crisper.
I will be making this again, especially now I know I can buy pre cut vegies! ;-)
Had the kids over for our son's birthday dinner; these beans received all fourteen thumbs up! May omit the butter next time and proceed by crisping raw bacon, sautéing the onions, adding the beans, seasonings and 1/2 cup of water, covering, and cooking. Thanks Lynn for a great flavored dish that will please our family again and again!
