Step 1: Glaze ... In a small bowl or cup, mix the rum, honey, butter, and cinnamon together and set to the side. And, if you are someone who doesn't keep rum in the house ... get one of those 'mini' bottles. Just enough to make the dessert with no leftovers. Also, microwave the glaze for 5-10 seconds on medium power, just to warm up the sauce; and, to make it easier to brush on the banana.
Step 2: Bananas ... Cut the ends off, then lengthwise; but, keep the peel on the banana. Lightly season the cut side with a pinch of salt.
Step 3: Grill ... This does work on an inside grill pan; but, I do recommend an outdoor grill. Grill cut side down for 3 minutes until you get some good char marks, flip, and brush with the glaze. Continue to grill another 5 minutes until tender; and, brush with the glaze one more time.
Step 4: Serve ... The banana should slip right out of the peel. Plate 1 or 2 banana halves er plate; and, serve with a scoop of frozen yogurt, or ice cream. Finish with chopped nuts of your choice. Chocolate sauce is also very good, especially for the kids; but, it is optional. And, as I said ... simple use OJ, apple, or pomegranate juice for the kids. ENJOY! It is simple, inexpensive, decadent, easy, and delicious. A perfect summer dessert.
