Step 1: Pound chicken breast halves until evenly thin.
Step 2: In a shallow bowl combine flour with garlic powder, salt and pepper.
Step 3: Dredge chicken with flour.
Step 4: In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Cook chicken in butter for about 4 to 6 minutes on each side, until tender and cooked through. Remove chicken to a an 11x7-inch baking pan, or a shallow heat-proof pan; tent with foil to keep warm.
Step 5: Add remaining 2 tablespoons of butter to skillet and saute mushrooms and garlic until tender.
Step 6: Arrange mushroom slices on top of each piece of chicken; cover with a slice of cheese. Place remaining mushrooms around chicken.
Step 7: Place chicken breasts under a hot broiler until cheese is melted. Serve immediately.
