Step 1: Sort peas and soak in plenty of water overnight.
Step 2: Before cooking, drain and rinse.
Step 3: Place all ingredients into crock pot and cook on low for 8-10 hours or until peas are nicely tender.
Step 4: Remove bay leaves before serving.
Step 5: Serve with additional tabasco, if desired.
Step 6: This is kind of brothy being a soup but if you like a thicker bean texture, you can either mash some of the peas or cook it longer until the peas begin to burst.
