Step 1: Make a roux by melting the butter in a sauce pan over medium heat. Whisk in flour and continue whisking until golden brown.
Step 2: Add the liquid and whisk until it boils - it should start getting thick. Cover and let sit off the heat until ready to use - you can also keep it warm by leaving it on the lowest heat setting until ready to serve.
