Step 1: Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
Step 2: In a large saucepan, whisk together honey, peanut butter, applesauce, apple juice, and oil.
Step 3: Cook over medium heat until mixture begins to simmer and thicken.
Step 4: Remove from heat.
Step 5: Stir in rolled oats.
Step 6: Allow mixture to cool slightly, about 15 minutes then stir in the whole wheat flour.
Step 7: Stir enough all-purpose flour to form a stiff dough.
Step 8: Divide dough in half.
Step 9: On a lightly floured surface, roll one portion of the dough at a time to 1/4 inch thick.
Step 10: Cut out dough using a 2-inch cookie cutter shaped like a dog bone (or other desired shape).
Step 11: Place cutouts on an ungreased cookie sheet.
Step 12: Bake in oven at 300 degrees for 20 minutes.
Step 13: Turn treats over and bake another 20 minutes or until both sides are golden brown.
Step 14: When done baking all batches, turn off oven and place all the treats on one large cookie sheet.
Step 15: Place the cookies in the oven for 1 hour as oven cools.
Step 16: Store treats in an air tight container, cover. Store at room temp for up to 1 month. You can also freeze these.
