Step 1: Using a potato masher, mash half (2 cups) of the strawberries. Stir in the remaining sliced strawberries and sugar; Mix well and chill 1 hour.
Step 2: Beat cream with powdered sugar and vanilla. Place 1-2 slices of pound cake on a serving plate, top with strawberry mixture and a dollop of cream. Serve immediately.
