Step 1: Melt butter in a saucepan, add onions and saute until tender; stir in flour, stir until well belended, about 5 minutes.
Step 2: Add chicken broth gradually, cooking and stirring until thickened, add remaining ingredients, simmer gently and stir until well mixed and heated through about 10 minutes.
