Step 1: Shell the beans and put into a bowl of cold water and leave for 15 minutes to soften.
Step 2: Meanwhile finely chop the onion and garlic, de seed the chilli and finely chop.
Step 3: Heat the oil & lard in a deep pan, add the chopped ingredients (onion, garlic and chilli) and cook over a low heat for a few minutes, to cook to translucent but not to brown color.
Step 4: Pour in the stock & add the drained beans; cover with a lid and stirring from time to time until the beans are tender (this will take about 20 minutes).
Step 5: Taste and adjust the seasoning & serve hot with a sprinkle of parsley.
