Maine's Frosted Coffee Bars

Ingredients
- Cream
- 1/4 cup shortening
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/2 cup coffee
- Dry
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Fruit
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
- Frosting
- 1 cup powdered sugar, sifted
- 2 tablespoons warm milk
- 1/4 teaspoon instant coffee
- 1 tablespoon butter
How to Make

Step 1: Preheat oven to 350F.

Step 2: Cream together shortening and sugar.

Step 3: Add egg.

Step 4: Add hot coffee.

Step 5: Sift dry ingredients together.

Step 6: Add creamed mix to the dry ingredients.

Step 7: Stir until smooth, then add in the raisins and nuts.

Step 8: Bake in a lightly greased 9 x 13 pan for 15 to 20 minutes, until done.

Step 9: When this is baking, make the frosting, mixing to make a smooth frosting.

Step 10: Spread on hot bars,.

Step 11: Cool and cut into squares.
