Ingredients
- Saute
- 1 pound pork sausage
- 1 cup onions, chopped
- Wet
- 10 eggs, beaten
- 4 cups milk
- 1 teaspoon dry mustard
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper ,to taste
- Layers
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 5 cups white bread, cubed, day-old
- 16 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, shredded (2 cups)
- 1/2 cup mushrooms, sliced
- 1/2 cup tomatoes, peeled, cored, chopped
How to Make

Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2: Brown sausage and onions.

Step 3: Heavily butter a 9x13 casserole.

Step 4: Place the cubed bread in a well-buttered 9 x 13-inch baking pan.

Step 5: Sprinkle with cheese.

Step 6: Sprinkle with chopped tomatoes and mushrooms.

Step 7: Top with the browned crumbled sausage onion mixture, distributing it evenly.

Step 8: Pour the wet egg & milk mixture evenly over the bread and cheese.

Step 9: Let set 30 minutes before baking .

Step 10: Bake 50 minutes until brown and bubbly and melted.
