Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350F.
Step 2: In a sauce pan, place peeled and quartered potatoes and boil then simmer for 15-20 minutes, until tender.
Step 3: Drain and add the milk, butter, salt, garlic powder, and black pepper.
Step 4: Beat with a mixer until smooth and fluffy. (If using leftovers, mashed potatoes, beat until smooth texture, adding a bit of milk if necessary.) Set the potatoes aside.
Step 5: In a large skillet, heat butter.
Step 6: Add the diced onion and sauté over medium-high heat until the onions are golden, 3-5 minutes.
Step 7: Add the ground beef and brown until it is cooked through.
Step 8: Add the paprika, thyme, and salt. Taste and adjust the seasonings as desired.
Step 9: Pour the onion and beef mixture into the bottom of a greased 8x8 baking dish.
Step 10: Evenly distribute the corn over the meat.
Step 11: Spread the potatoes over the corn, creating an even top crust.
Step 12: Bake for 30-40 minutes, until the top is golden brown.
